The Method

Howyourcarisactuallywashed.

Not a rinse and a brush. Seven stages, and every product picked for one job.

Why we work this way

Correction is the cure for bad washing.

Most swirl marks and fine scratches are not put there by the road. They are put there in the wash, by a brush dragging yesterday’s grit across the paint, or by an acid that eats the lacquer on your wheels a little each time.

So the answer is not to polish the damage out afterwards. The answer is not to cause it. We do not own a machine polisher, and we do not need one, because a car washed properly every time never gets to the point where it needs correcting.

We do not polish your paint. We look after it so it never needs polishing.

The seven steps, in order.

  1. 01

    Touchless pre-wash

    Bilt Hamber Touch-Less

Nothing makes contact with your car at this stage. The pre-wash goes on, it softens and lifts the road film, and it takes the grit with it when it comes off. That grit is what causes swirl marks, so getting it off the paint before anything touches the car is the single most important thing that happens all day.

Praised by detailers across the globe as the absolute best prewash worldwide. An alkaline prewash formulated to strip heavy residue, without compromising protective coatings.Shane, DRIP’D

    The second foam

Koch Chemie Gsf Gentle Snow Foam

A second, gentler layer goes on over the pre-wash at pH 7.5. Neutral means it cleans without attacking anything, so a ceramic coating or a wax you paid someone else for is still there when we are finished.

Our second layer of foam applied after your first prewash snowfoam. Safe on all exterior paint surfaces including ceramic coatings.Shane, DRIP’D

    Wheels

    Bilt Hamber Auto-Wheel

Brake dust is not dirt, it is iron, and it embeds itself in the wheel face. Auto-Wheel reacts with it and lifts it out without acid and without alkali. Acid is quicker and cheaper, and it is why wheels come back from a cheap wash looking dull, then pitted, then lifting at the lacquer.

Our dedicated wheel cleaner of choice for iron fallout removal. Highly regarded as the best wheel cleaner in the world. Zero acid, zero alkaline.Shane, DRIP’D

    Shuts and engine bay

    Bilt Hamber Surfex-HD

Open a door on a car that has been through a cheap wash and you will find the shut is still filthy. It is the part nobody looks at and the part you touch every single day. Surfex-HD handles the shuts, the sills and the engine bay.

Used for various exterior tasks as an APC, from door shuts to engine bays.Shane, DRIP’D

  5. 05

    The contact wash

    Two buckets, clean mitts

By this point the car has been through two chemical stages and the abrasive material is on the floor rather than on the panel. That is the only condition under which it is safe to touch paint at all.

    Glass

    Bilt Hamber Trace-Less

Glass is the thing you notice first when the sun is low and the thing most washes get wrong. Trace-Less leaves nothing behind to catch the light.

Our glass cleaner of choice. Leaving no trace behind for crystal clear glass.Shane, DRIP’D

    Protection

    Koch Chemie ProtectorWax

The last thing that happens is protection. A premium wax sealant on the paint, so the rain and road salt of the next two months has something to sit on other than your lacquer, and water beads off it rather than sitting there. A dressing goes on the tyres and exterior plastics at the same time. Every car, every visit, including the cheapest service on the list.
